Early Saturdays mornings when the wind is calm we always have hot air balloons cruising by or over our house. Here is one that was practicing manuever's by some homes down the hill a bit from my house last Saturday. Sometimes is freaks you out when your out walking the dog's for their early morning potty and they give the balloons a big whoosh of hot heated fuel.

I think I have the new laptop under control. Only thing is, I decided that the new Windows Vista operating system sure seems to have a lot of bugs. Drives me nuts sometimes!! Hey ya all!
No, I haven't fell off the face of the earth!! Thank you for the inquiries!! My laptop bit the dust finally. I have been expecting it, but just didn't want to upgrade till I had to. Of course the new laptop is not compatible with any of the old stuff either!! So I have been obtaining updated drivers and software for anything I can and buying what hardware that I can't update. The new laptop has Windows Vista so I am on slight new learning curve also. I think I just about got her up and running again, so should have new auctions going again soon.
The pond is doing great once again!! The netting came and it works wonderful!!! We have not seen one Heron since we installed the netting over the whole pond. I read that Herons are mostly a nuisance in the fall. I sure hope so! I still can't believe they patrol the desert skies, sheesh!!!

Hey ya all!
Can you believe fall has finally found it's way to the desert? 70 degree's this morning at 6:00 a.m. I was ecstatic, to say the least. We have had triple digit weather for at least three and a half month's straight!! I am so ready for some cooler weather...............not too cold though.
I have been battling two Herons that have been coming to my pond looking for a free meal. The pond is pretty deep and covered with lilies, but they have still managed to grab some of my Koi fish. The Koi pretty much stay at the bottom right now, since our feather friends are always on the fly by lately. Can you believe Heron's live in the desert??????? I have a heavy duty netting on order, which should be here in a few days. In the meantime, I have strung chicken wire and lots of colorful strips of cloth above the pond. Doesn't look to great, but seems to be working till the net gets here. The Herons do lots of fly bys, but I think they are getting ready to come on down again. The day before I put out the chick wire and cloth, I waited at dusk for them to come. They about sh*t their feathered britches when I came yelling and flapping my arms at them from the tree's. Hee-hee!! Made me feel better!!!

So is everybody's kids back in school? I did some grocery shopping the night before the kids went back to school here and the store was packed. The clerk who rang me up said that the people traffic ranked right up there with Thanksgiving and Christmas. Lots of school lunches to be packed I guess????? I thought everybody mostly bought their lunches at school, but guess I am dead wrong! Being a childless person myself I am clueless on these things. But, being a big kid myself, I still love to ogle all the back to school supplies, all so new and shiny and crafty looking.

Hey ya all! What's happening in your part of the world? It is still hot here, but at least we don't have the humidity that you east coastie people do! If it even gets up to 25% humidity here, it feels so WET. We had a rain and thunderstorm the other night. It was so refreshing! It was cool seeing the lightening over the Strip. We do get flash flooding when it rains so you have to be careful and not drive in any water over six inches. Six inches of rushing water can knock a person flat on their feet. A foot of water can float small cars. It's amazing how many people here still do it and their cars get going in the water and then they have to be rescued.

I have been making beads like crazy. I have a new portable air conditioner that really ROCKS!!!! I can position it on my back ever so perfect and it works so good! Even when the studio is over 120 degree's, I'm still doing pretty good! I LOVE it! My doggies don't like it though, cause it cuts into their pool swimming time.

Trick or Treat #2 Deluxe Chocolates
Nothing exciting going on this weekend here. We are working on the atrium floor which is about ready to grout. We got the drain in and the natural slab flooring just about level. In a while I'm going to bathe and groom our Yorkie and do some house cleaning and clothes washing. I sure wish I had a nose like Bewitched. I just would wrinkle and twinkle that thing about twenty times a day and everything around here would be sparkling and hubby and I would be out playing :0)

Wednesday the 15th of August
Remember I told you we got a new puppy on my hubbys birthday at the end of June. I finally got a picture of her "settled down". She is usually a real big spaz when the camera is out. She will be five months old in about a week. Her name is Chili Pepper and she is a toy fox terrier. She is my constant new shadow, I can't even take a pee without her following me in the bathroom. Isn't she just the cutest?

Thursday the 9th of August
Hey ya all,
I feel the summer heat starting to take a downturn here. This morning it was only 79 degree's out at 6:00 a.m. It's starting to feel like a human could possibly survive here now :0) I will be able to take the dogs for walks again for exercise instead of swimming in the pool. Not sure if they will like that though, every day at 4:30 p.m. I start to get bugged meanly to go swimming in the pool! They stare so hard at me with rubber pool toys in their mouth that it isn't even funny no more. I can totally feel their swim vibes!!
Had company for a few days so we did "stuff" on the strip. The "stuff" I enjoyed the most was going to the Mirage and visiting the dolphin habitat. There is a new 8 week old baby dolphin there that is terribly CUTE, and a underwater viewing area where you can check out the dolphins going about their business. There was one dolphin that I called Mr. Bubbles. He did the most amazing things with bubbles. He was his own one man show. He had everybody enthralled with his antics. He would swim by the viewing windows every five minutes or so to make sure we were all smiling at him!! Too COOL!!!!!!

So what's up ya all? Have you been keeping cool? We had a bit of rain here. It was so nice!! Not really enough to even wet the dirt a whole lot, but it was enough to be refreshing after so much dryness. It's the Monsoon season here in the desert, so hopefully we will get some more rain. Keep your fingers crossed!!

I have three more Halloween auctions that will be starting this evening at 5:45 pm. I will post pics of them when they start.
We are plugging away at the remodeling like always. Yesterday we went and picked out flooring for the atrium that is in the middle of the house. Natural slabs of stone is what we picked. We are going to have a shallow pond in the middle with lots of potted plants in the surrounding area's. It is going to be a real nice retreat!! It used to be a bird aviary before we bought the house. Still haven't done the demo work on the laundry or bathroom, eeeek!!!!
Oh yea, we got a new puppy. Her name is Chili Pepper and she is a little tiny toy Fox Terrier and we love her terribly already!! I have been trying to talk hubby into a Chinese Crested, but he thinks they are not real cute. ( I do!!) Anyhoo's we compromised and now we are into the potty training stage again. Ya know, I always forget that they poop way more than they eat. Will post pics when I get one of her still. Yea right!! This is one red hot little mama full of energy. Her and our Yorkie are a constant blur of action.
OK, beadheads I will post the other three auctions here in just a little while. I'm addicted to iced coffee in the afternoon, so I'm going to go get me one right now.
