Monday the 25th of June

Hey ya all! So what's shaking in your world? It's still HOTTER than heck here.  I long for humidity and tropical rains, clear blue pools and salty ocean reefs, snorkeling with pretty fish, iced down drinks, shade umbrella's, waterfalls and beach side cabana's. All this sounds pretty good when you live in the desert in the summer! My torties have been digging so deep to keep cool that they broke one of our sprinkler lines.  I woke up to a flood this morning.  Good thing they weren't in the hole they dug cause it was flooded and they don't swim!! I freaked out at first because I couldn't see where they were and I already was thinking they were in the hole............. drowned!!! But all is well.  :0)

Hey everybody what's been happening in your neck of the woods?  It is HOTTER than heck here!!!  When I got up at 6 a.m. this morning it was still 89 degree's outside.  Last time I looked at the thermometer today it was 107 degree's!!! Aye yi yiii!!!! I had to cover the Koi pond with some shade cloth, it was burning my lily flowers and making it a little too warm for the Koi.  I have a couple of Sulcatta Tortoises and they were even seeking coolness by digging a giant hole under their sleeping quarters. I betcha it is going to be in the 120's this July.
I put up another Penguin Pool Party tonight on eBay.  I thought you guys would of had enough of them by now.  Click the pic to view the auction.

Sunday the 10th of June

I hope everyone had a relaxing week-end! Hubby and I took our fur babies up to Mt. Charleston Saturday so they could run around in the pine tree's where it is much cooler.  I spied a bit of snow here and there still, that surprised me a bit. My doggies really like the cooler weather. Today, we plugged away at some of the remodeling stuff around the house.

I posted a new auction tonite, it is made with a lot of dichroic, click the pic to view

How is everybody today? I am A-OK!!  Tonight is the season premiere of "Hell's Kitchen".  Chef Ramsay is so mean!!!!  I'm afraid that I would have to give him some lip back! I just don't know how anybody could cook with that guy hovering behind ya! If you like to cook, you should check it out.  The winner get his/her own restaurant here in Las Vegas.

I posted a couple of patriotic auctions tonight on eBay. Click the pics to view them.

Thursday the 31rst of May

Boy was it ever HOT here today. My air conditioning could not keep up with the kiln and the torch today, so I quit a bit earlier than usual. But that's OK, because I forgot to wear my hair band today and my bangs fell in the torch flame and now I have "to the scalp" hair fuzz along my forehead line.  I guess it was time for me to quit.  Good thing I wear my hair over to one side, so I will be able to sorta hide it.  But the good news is that I have another auction up, click the pic to view.

It's time to go fix dinner, so I will chat again on my next update.  Take care ya all!

Wednesday the 30th of May

Hey everybody!  Hope you all had a very relaxing Memorial Day Week-end.  Hubby and I spent one of the days getting to know a set of our neighbors.  We had a great time with them and they have a cute little doggie that I want to add to my troop! We also took one of the days and actually spent some time down on the strip.  We went to the Palms, The Wynn and shopped at the Desert Passage shops. Hubby wined and dined me after that.  Quite fun!!  I posted a few auctions on eBay tonite.  Click the pics to check them out.

Penguin Pool Party                               *****Sweet*****

The penguin pool party reminds me a bit of my doggies.  We have a lot of rubber toys and floatie stuff for them in the pool.  The dogs use it 100 times more than we do.  Every time my little five pound Yorkie goes out the door, I have to make sure she isn't heading straight for the pool.  They love to be in it!  Especially now that it is so HOT!

Till next time everybody, I have to go start some dinner.

Tuesday the 15th of May

I hope that everyone that is a mother had a pleasant Mother's Day on Sunday. I am a fur baby mom and I got lots of kisses and love from my babies. Hubby took me out for brunch and goodies, he says "fur baby moms get to have a special day too".  Boy, did I ever snag a good hubby, eh?
I was checking out my Koi pond this morning and there is LOTS of little babies everywhere!!!!!!!  So cool, and as I was staring at them on my hands and knees, a pair of rust red dragonfly's come a hovering over the lily pads, and then one of the resident ruby throated hummingbirds comes and start pecking away at the little itty bitty gnats flying in the air, and the big Koi are all at the top sucking up floating food pellets, WOW, WOW, WOW, my eyes and brain were on sensory overload!!!! Such eye and brain candy!!!!!  I LOVE MY POND!
No I don't spend all my time staring at the pond, I actually make beads still.  :0)  Here are two sets that are upon eBay right now. Click the pictures to go straight to the auctions.

Friday the  11th of May

Boy oh boy is it ever hot here! 100 degree's today!  Whew!!  I had to quit torching around noon time, the air conditioner could not keep up with the torch and the kiln.  Yes, it's TRUE!  I have been taking special orders on a limited basis. One main condition is that it must be a bead or beads that I have made before.  I may turn you down on some things, probably because they are a pain in the butt to make.

I have a auction ending Sunday night on Mother's Day.  Click the below pic to take you to the auction. Nothing for sale on the website at the moment, sorry.

Wednesday the 25th of April

How is everybody in your part of the world?  Sorry to be so silent lately.  We are still finishing up remodeling in the house and of course my hubby always thinks of more projects.  This last week I mentioned to hubby that I wished my Koi pond was bigger.  Guess what? Now I am the proud mommy of a much bigger and better pond.  My Koi and Lily's are so loving it.  We are also putting in a waterfall which I did not have before.  Lots of oxygen for the fishies after that is completed.  Also we have been doing lots of landscaping out in the yard.  We extended the main cactus garden with lots of sandy hills and gully's and planted a whole bunch of palm trees along one side for some shade.  We also extended the dry river bed.  Then hubby decides he don't like where the outside shed is, so he moves it and is landscaping where the shed was. Whew!!!!  It's been a lot of work, but so worth it!!!! It's getting hotter here, so we will be moving back into the house pretty soon to finish up the remodeling in there where there is air conditioning.

I put up a auction on ebay last night.  It is called Girlie Pinks.  It has three strands of different types of beads and a couple of Flamingo's.  Click here to see it.  Sorry, but no beads for sale here on the site this week.

Talk soon,

Deb  :0)

Sunday the 8th of April    Easter Sunday

Happy Hip Hoppity Easter!!!!!!  I got up this morning thinking how cool that a lot of peeps are getting my lampwork beads in their Easter basket.  I did a HUGE special order for a guy who wanted to surprise his wife with lots of Easter Beads in her basket.  How cool is that? You have to love men like that!!!!!  This morning I finally put up a auction on ebay. My Koi, Lily & Froggy Pond.  Click here to see it. OK, I'm off to do my Easter Sunday stuff.  Talk soon bead heads!!!!!

Friday the 6th of April,

Spring has sprung here in the desert.  Actually we have already had ninety degree weather and I have run the air conditioning a few times when I have been torching.  Unbelievable, huh?  Instead of going for walks now, my doggies would rather swim. My cactus love this weather big time though. This Sunday is Easter already. Boy how time flies!!!
I really have been making beads lately.  But we are trying to get our remodeling all finished at our house, so I have been spending my computer time doing remodeling stuff to help get it finished up.  The little stuff takes forever!  I told Hubby I need a bit of time to get some beads posted so I should at least have  a set up on ebay by tomorrow.  Last week-end was the Glass Craft Expo here in Las Vegas. I went and got me all kinds of new tools and glass goodies.  I will be having some new type of glass stuff up for sale soon.

Hope everything is going good in your part of the world!

Saturday the 17th of March         Happy St. Patrick's Day

So do you all have on green today?  My hubby got right up when I was making coffee this morning to see if I had green on.  He wanted to pinch me! But I did of course.  We are getting ready to take the fur babies for a run where ever we can find some real grass.  That's kinda hard here in the desert, so we have to stick to parks pretty much for that.  I don't take them out in the desert  because of the rattlesnakes.  Our rat terrier was bitten by a big one and we almost lost her.

OK, I listed a new auction on ebay this morning.  My cactus garden is blooming like crazy so I thought I better do a cactus bead set, click here to view them.  Also go check out the Product section, I listed some buy it nows for Easter.

Talk soon,

Tuesday the 13th of March

Good morning to all of you bead lovers!  It is a very nice sunny and warm morning here in Las Vegas. We have been hitting the low 80's already.  Yesterday was very warm in the studio.  I had to switch to the little kiln as to not let as much heat in the studio.  I will probably be using the air conditioning pretty soon.  I have listed some Easter auctions on Ebay this morning click here to view them.

This morning on the strip here in Las Vegas they imploded the Stardust.  It has been on the strip for fifty years.  That's a super long time for Vegas.  I think the only old casino's left are now only found down on Fremont Street.  Hey, got to make way for the bigger and better I guess.

I'm working in the yard today and torching. I'm going to alternate the two!!!

Talk soon all my bead friends!!

Deb  :0)

OK, I got a couple sets up on the bay click here to view them.  I also listed a few bead sets here on the website. Sorry but the bunny set has been sold.  Well it never reached 80 degree's today. We had major clouds blow in and it stayed a lot cooler than they predicted. I think Mother Nature must of been listening to me earlier today!  Talk soon!

Wednesday the 7th of March

Just a quickie update to let you know that I do have some bead sets for ebay and the site.  I will be getting them ready and photographed today.   I will be posting them to the site/ebay today and tomorrow. It is suppose to be 80 degree's here today.  Like wow!  I can't believe it is already that warm.  I guess that there is no spring in the desert.  A weather switch got flipped from winter to summer.  I will update again when I have the beads posted.

Talk soon my beady friends,

Thursday the 22nd of February

Survivor is on TV tonight.  Hubby and I faithfully watch every episode.  We don't have a favorite person yet, and the one we love to hate hasn't really materialized yet.  I always thought I might want to be on that show, but now I really appreciate a good bed at night, a full belly, hot water and clean clothes!  Couldn't imagine going that long without that stuff, Yikes!!!!

I listed some "pretty beads" tonight as my hubby calls them (anything that isn't sculptured), click here to view them.
I have a lot of Easter and Spring beads that I need to get photographed.  Will have them up soon.

Till next time.....................

Tuesday the 20th of February

So how the heck is everybody? Are ya all tired of winter yet?  I sure am.  I have been creating lots of spring type beads in between all the remodeling chores my hubby has for me. Tonight I listed a Easter bead set and a St. Paddy Day set, click here to view them.
The remodeling is going slow but looking very good.  We are just about done tiling the hallway floors.  We are doing borders and some cool stuff here and there so it is taking longer than we expected. Hubby can't wait to get up off the floor! Me too!!
My cactus outside in the garden are starting to swell with flower buds. Some already are blooming, here's a few pics of the flowers in my yard.  The Bird of Paradise flower survived the freeze because I was a nice mommy and covered it with a cardboard box.

When I was taking these pictures, I noticed the weeds are starting to grow. The flowers, weeds, and our much warmer days and nights makes me feel like spring is on the way. Yahoo!  Only problem in the desert is doesn't last long,  it starts warming up real quick!

OK, talk soon my beady friends..........................

Just a quickie this morning.  I have to visit the hairdresser and then get myself back home and get the kitchen floor grouted. Especially the dishwasher area! Probably going to have the dishwasher back tomorrow.  I can't wait!!  I like to have a place to hide the dirty dishes :0)

Talk soon my beady friends!

Sunday the 21rst of January 2007

I have some more new auctions up this morning, check them out!

It has finally warmed up here. Our coldest night temperature was 19 degree's!!! Brrrrrrrrr!!  I took the boxes off the cactus and they weathered real good.  Cardboard is a great insulator, I am finding out. That is the first time I have used that method and I must say it is the best one so far. Now if you have rain and sleet in your area, probably not a good idea, eh? My poor palm tree's really took a beating, all the leaves are dry and whispery and are very yellow/brown in color. I am so glad we don't have ice hanging off our tree's like so many people do in other parts of the U.S. right now. ********Think spring!********

Here is a pic of one of the sugar gliders. I moved their cage in the daytime the other day and they came out of their pouch to see what was up. They are nocturnal, so hard to get a pic of them in the daytime.

My snowy mountain view from my house a few days ago, now it is mostly melted.

The remodeling is going great! A bit slow, but everything looks good! Hubby got the dining room area all tiled, so today I am grouting it.  The floor is taking us a long time.  We still have to tear out the hallways and bathroom floors before we can tile them. Still no dishwasher!!!!!!! Hubby is just working his way into the kitchen now.

Have a good day everybody!  Thanks for checking in, I appreciate it!!!

and

This morning it was a tad bit warmer out.  I accidently left the hummer feeder out last night and it wasn't frozen solid, just slushy.  We have been leaving the pool on at night and it was still forming ice where the water flow was slower, but there was not any ice this morning when I turned it off, yea!  Our lowest night temp so far has been nineteen degree's, and that was three nights ago.  I feel so sorry for the big Queen palms and Mexican palms that are too big to cover up.  Their leaves really took a beating.  I think that we will lose some of the Queens.

On the remodeling front, the floor is starting to come together.  Hubby just about has the dining room area tiled and it looks better than I ever imagined and it isn't even grouted and back splashed yet. I put most everything back into my kitchen and pantry cabinets, and boy is it ever so nice to have lots of room in nice cabinets!!!!

Till next time my beady friends,

Deb  :0)

Here is a series of pics of one of the resident hummers, they were took the day before all the cold weather. My palm leaves still looked good. The hummers are so used to me, that I can stand a foot away from the feeder and they don't care.  Just don't make no sudden moves.

Current auctions up on Ebay right now, click here

Bbbbbbrrrrrrrrrr!  It is so cold here!! Last night it got down to 26 degree's!!!!  Yikes!!  I know that's not as cold as some of you peeps get in your part of the world, but that is pretty cold here.  We had to wrap/cover our smaller palm tree's and cactus.  I sure hope the big palms make it.  We are suppose to have a couple more days of low temps.  My pool had a inch of ice on it this morning.  I have been bringing the hummer feeder in at night  so it won't freeze and boy are the hummers ever so grateful in the morning when I bring it out all warmed up for them.

Here is the pic of part of the cactus garden all wrapped up, now I'm calling it the box garden.

Here is the pool this morning all froze up.  I broke the ice up to show how thick it was.

Stay warm everybody!  Don't forget to bring your pets in at night!! Talk soon my beady friends!

Wednesday the 10th of January 2007

So what's happening in your part of the world?  Hubby and I are still remodeling.  Yesterday we hauled some of the tile home for the floors.  Each box contains ten 12" x 12" tiles and they must weigh at least 35lbs a box. Needless to say my arms got a very good workout unloading the boxes into the house.  This morning we are suppose to go get another truckload and then hubby says there will only be two more full loads to go!!!!!! The sink is up and running in the kitchen, and I am trying to get hubby to promise to hook up the dishwasher today, but he wants to wait until the floor is tiled.  We got the counter top replaced in the bathroom that was cracked and it looks so good. My house is starting to look very different! I so love it!

I will be putting a chocolate Valentine Day set up tonight.  I have another couple of Valentine Day sets, but they are being very camera shy. I can't seem to get good pics with the contrasting colors that they have for some reason or another. Here is a link to my current auction up now, it ends tonight Sweetheart Roses

Till next time my beady friends,
